Booms Times Ahead For Copper Strip Manufacturers

The outlook for the copper strip manufacturers will always be positive, for the simple reason our modern world is unthinkable without copper.

Several sectors that are part of our lives, such as power supply, telecommunication and electronics, HVAC, transportation and more owe their performance and existence to the consistent uses of copper.

Copper processing and refining is not something new. It existed even in the early civilizations.

During the long journey of innovations from the straightforward tool to copper electrodes and on to today’s state of the art applications, the vital sectors of the industry have depended on the clear benefits that copper delivers.

Because of its excellent conductivity, copper is by far the preferred material in electrical and electronics industry.

For the manufacture of components such as transformer coils, circuit boards, terminal strips, plugs and sockets, the copper metal is rolled and molded.

The applications of copper do not stop here.

Here are more examples.

Copper in automotive industry

The increasing use of electronics in cars and vehicles has led to nearly 300 percent rise in the average amount of copper per vehicle. Copper has applications in brake pipes, driving motors, cable lugs relays and more.

Copper in modern communications

Today’s communication by cell phones, television and radio is inconceivable without using enormous amount of cables. High conductivity types of copper are essential to ensure low transmission losses from transmitter to antenna and from the antenna to the receiver.

Copper in smelting and casting technology

In furnaces, the technical efficiency is highly dependent on the quality of electric current components. These components are invariably made of copper/ copper strips.

Copper in air conditioning

Copper tube has been the backbone for the technological progress made in refrigeration and air conditioning segment.

Copper in building products

Presently more than half of all homes in Europe have copper pipes. Modern Indian homes too are not lagging behind. For years copper has been used in the design of roofs and facades.

Copper strips have its unique uses.

Several industries use precision copper strips because of their high conductivity and corrosion resistance.

It is no wonder therefore copper strip manufacturers have high demand for their products.

In a typical manufacturing unit, the process of manufacturing strips starts with molten copper ores. After removal of impurities from the ore, copper billets, blooms or slabs are made in rolling units. These items are then further rolled in finishing mills to manufacture copper strips.

Copper strip sizes can be made in width 3 mm to 160 mm, and thickness 0.5 mm to 10mm.

Most manufacturers produce strips as per customers’ specifications. The most commonly available copper strips grades are manufactured to ASTM (American) and/or BS (British) standards.

As per a report the outlook for global copper wire market is upbeat. China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States are the most robust copper wire markets in the world.

The Indian industrial and construction sector is strong and continuing to grow. With the present government initiatives to provide impetus to high technology sectors, copper strip manufacturers can continue to be optimistic on their future growth prospects.

Rajasthan Electric Industries under the brand name “BRITEX” manufactures a range of copper products including copper strips, copper wire, nickel copper wire, silver plated copper wire and more.
